I thought this would be a good time to post the homemade pizza recipe I have been using since my Italian food article I wrote on my Facebook page.
I know the situation isn’t the best with us all being stuck in isolation but you can still enjoy a healthy alternative to a takeaway or store bought pizza. This is also a great way to keep the kids and maybe your partner entertained, its a very rewarding feeling when you have made the pizza and it comes out tasting great.
The recipe I will be sharing is one I have used a few times now and tastes as good as any pizza I have had before.
The ingredients you will need are:
750g bread flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons of caster sugar
2 7g packets of yeast
Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix
Add 16 fl oz of hot water with 4 tablespoons of oil
Knead into a dough and then roll out to what shape/size pizza you wish
Should make 4 good size pizzas if you go for average portion sizes.
I like to use tomato puree to spread over the pizza base, tear up some mozzarella and place on the pizza where you want. I then add chopped onions, peppers and a variety of meats before I place in the oven.
Cooking times vary on the oven and the size of the pizza. The best way is until the crust goes crispy and check the base is soft but cooked.
